Last night, I heard there was a meeting about being a US Census worker at the library. I received this message from a friend, but wanted to double check for accuracy. The meeting was scheduled for 6PM, and I was interested in attending. I searched the library website to confirm the meeting time, and I couldn't find it listed anywhere. However, I did find the following paragraph on their newsletter:"The Fayetteville Public Library's texting service allows patrons to find quick answers to their questions even when they can't come to the library. To use this service, text 66746 on a cell phone, beginning the question with 'fpl.' A librarian will text back with the answer."
So I gave it a shot:
5:36 PM - from myself
"FPL - Is the Census training meeting tonight or next Tuesday?"
5:45 PM - From 667-46 (FPL)
"Tonight at 6:00, 3-14-10 at 6:00, 3-6-10 at 2:00, 3-9-10 at 6:00, 3-11-10 at 6:00 - RefServices"
I was very impressed with the quick response and thorough amount of information they provided. Thought fellow Fayetteville citizens could use this information to their benefit in the future.
